Alfajor is a traditional sweet from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru, Uruguay, Spain and other Ibero-American countries. Very popular in Argentina, the sweet is considered an icon of the country’s culture, where around six million alfajores are consumed every day from more than a hundred brands. However, the most famous of these is Havanna, which was born in 1948 and has more than 180 stores in the country. These Alfajores are produced with a dough of flour, sugar, eggs, lemon and almond essences, with a crunchy meringue/chocolate topping and filled with dulce de leche.
