The nutmeg comes from the nutmeg, a tough tree native to New Guinea and the Maluku Islands. It takes 15 to 20 years for the tree to produce fruit. Its fruits have an apricot shape and color, they are dried before the nutmeg extraction. Nutmeg perfumes bechamel, old-fashioned mashed potatoes and many other recipes because it is a very versatile spice.
