Rocca di Montemassi
In 1999, continuing their company’s expansion of Zonin's family, where they already owned Castello d’Albola, in the heart of Chianti Classico, and the Abbazia di Monte Oliveto farm, in the Vernaccia di San Gimignano region, Zonin family acquired Rocca di Montemassi. A 430-hectare property in the Maremma, of which 180 hectares were planted with vines. Together with Sangiovese and Vermentino varieties, which are clear markers of its Tuscan identity, Syrah, Cabernet, Petit Verdot, Merlot and the white Viognier are also grown, giving rise to top quality wines and olive oils. The Zonin Family’s decisions have endorsed an approach that strictly follows local traditions to create the company buildings, a stylistically line with other constructions and giving a particular attention to ecological sustainability. Hundreds and hundreds of olive trees, maritime pines, oleanders, cork oaks, Scotch brooms and strawberry trees have been planted in order to re-establish the identity of the rural landscape.
