Tahin takes its name from the Arabic ?a?ïnïa, which means to grind, to reduce flour.
This paste is obtained from the crushing of the white sesame seed, already cultivated in Mesopotamia 3,500 years ago.
From a nutritional point of view, sesame is rich in calcium, copper, iron, zinc, magnesium and vitamin B6.
Tahin has notes of almonds and hazelnuts.
This sesame paste is suitable for both savory and sweet dishes. Very popular in the Middle East, tahini is the basic condiment for hummus and eggplant caviar recipes. It is rich in proteins, Tahin will be the best ally of vegetarian cuisine, in a sauce to coat falafels.
