Pear and Chocolate Compote

A pleasant and tasty homemade sweet, which is perfect to serve with pancakes or with scones at breakfast and snacks or as an accompaniment to pancakes with vanilla ice cream at any time of the day.

Preparation Method

  1. Wash the pears. Peel them and cut them into small pieces. In a large enough pan, place the pieces of fruit, the cocoa, and the sugar and mix well to combine. Then cut the vanilla pod in half and scrape out the seeds. Add them and the rest of the pod to the previous mixture.
  2. Bring the pan to a boil, stirring from time to time. As soon as it boils, reduces the heat to a minimum and cooks until the fruit is soft. Test the point of the jam until it has reached roadworthiness.
  3. To find out, place a little on a plate, and, with your finger, it opens up a road, but the two sides do not join immediately.
  4. Remove the vanilla pod and crush the jam with a hand blender.
  5. Then transfer the jam into small, pre-sterilized jars. Cover them immediately and place them upside down for at least 30 minutes.
